Campus Safety and Security

Bradford Academy seeks to provide a safe and secure learning environment for its students. We are constantly evaluating and improving our security protocols and procedures, always seeking to better protect the students entrusted to us. We’ve compiled a list of the measures we are taking to promote campus safety and security.

Here are some of the protocols we have currently implemented:

 

  • Access control procedures
    • Each campus limits access through a single locked door.
    • All exterior and interior doors are locked during the day.
    • Staff monitor a designated camera at the single entrance of each campus.
    • We restrict entry for all volunteers and visitors and require them to check in at the office after being granted entry.
    • Staff escort all visitors are escorted throughout the building.
  • Student awareness protocols
    • Students of all ages sign in on arrival and sign out before departure.
    • Students must remain on campus (with exceptions for older students).
    • Staff oversee and monitor recess and lunch.
    • Badging protocols
      • Staff and faculty wear identifying badges.
      • Visitors and volunteers wear designated tags to identify and distinguish them.
    • Staff quality and safety
      • All staff and regular volunteers must go through a rigorous background check.
      • All staff and regular volunteers complete training in child safety and abuse recognition/reporting protocols through Protect My Ministry.
      • Both campuses have staff trained in first aid and CPR.
    • Other
      • Officers of the Mebane Police Department regularly patrol the school grounds.
      • Leadership regularly meets with the MPD to receive advice on how to improve campus safety and security.
      • Parents receive prompt notifications in case of closure or emergency at the school.
      • We conduct fire drills, dangerous weather drills, emergency drills, and lockdown drills.
      • Staff annually reviews incident response protocols.
