Now is the time to start reading through all of this information very thoroughly.  After you read through the bulletin, download the Student Checklist and start working through those items to make sure you are on track and ready to go for the new school year to start….very soon!

 

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • New items will be added to future Summer Updates.  Scroll through and search for items marked with NEW  to quickly identify the additions.  (ctrl+F NEW will help you locate those items quickly).

STUDENT CHECKLIST:  

START HERE!  The checklist is a tool to help you track tasks through the summer to prepare for 26/27 School Year.  It has been updated from previous years to include information about FACTS.  Everyone should review it!

UNIFORMS:

Now is the time to place your orders for the 26/27 school year!  

  • FACTS Family Portal: Resource Documents – Find Uniform Guides and a “How-to” guide for placing a uniform order.
  • Uniform Websites:
    • French Toast  Be sure Bradford Academy logo is at the top!
    • Schoolbelles  Enter school code S2715, select gender. (9th – 12th students)
  • Important Reminders: 
    • All clothing items* MUST be purchased from French Toast**!
    • Only items in the Bradford Academy store on French Toast are permitted.
  • *Socks, belt, and shoes may be purchased at a retailer of your choice.
  • **Select Upper school dress uniform pieces are from Schoolbelles.

SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES and CAMPS:

  • Bradford Library:  Lower school summer library and upper school required reading are all available at the lower school Bradford library.  See the dates and times above.
  • Basketball Open gyms – just one more week!
      • Mondays, 5 PM-7 PM
      • Grades 7-12
      • Eastside Baptist Gym 
  • Tennis Hit and Play  – just one more week!
      • Mondays, 2 PM-4 PM
      • Grades 7-12

      • Grades 7 – 12, plus parents and alumni

  • Saturday Night Middle School Bible Study:  (hosted by Grace Reformed Baptist Church, invitation extended to Bradford students)  
      • Saturdays starting tomorrow, July 11th, 6:00 – 7:30PM.  (For 5 weeks)
      • Miss Johnston (5th grade teacher) is one of the leaders.
      • Location:  home of Coach and Mrs. Johnston (address will be sent once you complete the following form)
  • Sign up Form:  Please complete this form if your child is interested in attending.

SUMMER READING:

  • Books can be checked out from the lower school (939 S Third St.) during library hours.
  • Parents, we have a shelf of books just for you!  
  • 1st – 5th grades:  Students can earn points for their house by reading up to 10 books from our Summer Reading list!  
  • 6th – 11th grades REQUIRED Summer Reading Lists – There are too many wonderful books to squeeze in during the school year, so we have a list of books for students to read during the summer that will be utilized in discussions and papers throughout the school year.
  • 12th grade:  REQUIRED reading for Senior Thesis

26/27 CALENDAR:

IMMUNIZATIONS:

All Kindergarten, 7th, and 12th grade students are required by NC state law to receive immunizations and provide updated reports to the school by the first day of school.  Please review the information here to make sure you get all that is needed.  Medical and religious exemptions are permitted.   Please upload them to TADS, email them to office@bradfordacademy.org, or bring them directly to the office.

AFTERSCHOOL CARE:  

Moms’ Helper and Bradford Plus are services provided to parents for both planned and unplanned circumstances.  Sometimes meetings run long, traffic backs up, emergencies arise…whatever the situation, you can be confident your child will be safe and supervised.  

  • Moms’ Helper provides care for Transitional Kindergarten students from 12:00 – 2:45.
  • Bradford Plus provides care for all students from 3:00 – 5:45.  
  • Please review the Policies and Procedures here.  

ARCHER ATHLETICS:  

  •  Athletic Polo:  this is a special shirt reserved for athletes to wear on game days that occur Mon – Thurs.  Red or black.  (Dress uniforms will be worn on Fridays even if there is a game.)

SAT JUL 25:  

  • School Clean Up Day, 8am – noon, Pizza lunch served – All families welcome to help us clean classrooms, spread mulch, prep playground, clean up trails, etc.    Please SIGN UP HERE if you and your family are able to help us.  
  • Burlington Sockpuppets Baseball Game: 7:00 pm. 40% of sales through THIS LINK  go to Bradford.  Get a bunch of friends to enjoy a fun evening together at the baseball game!

MON AUG 3:  Used Uniform Sale – at the lower school  

  • 4:00 – 6:30  – By appointment only.  SIGN UP HERE
  • Donations are accepted now!  You can drop them off T – Th from 9-12p.

THURS AUG 6:  Upper School Archer Night

  • Upper School Campus, 301 S. Third St.
  • For parents and students
  • Students:  wear Bradford polo with logo
  • 6:30:  5th-6th graders and NEW students orientation; Meet with Mr. Johnston
  • 7:30:  
    • 5th – 6th graders and NEW students visit classrooms and meet teachers
    • 7th – 12th grader (returning students) – Meet with Mr. Johnston
  • 8:00:  7th – 12th graders (returning students) visit classrooms

FRI AUG 7:  Alumni Volleyball and Soccer games

  • Volleyball game:  alumni and current team at Eastside Baptist Church.  Time TBA
  • Soccer game:  alumni and current team at MACC.  Time TBA

MON AUG 10:  Lower School Archer Night  

  • Lower School Campus, 939 S. Third St.  
  • Students:  wear Bradford polo with logo
  • Appointments will be offered for 5:30, 6:00, 6:30pm –  SIGN UP HERE
  • All will meet with Mr. Johnston, then meet the teachers and visit classrooms

TUES AUG 11:  5th – 12th Grade FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

  • Wear dress uniform
  • 7:30 am earliest drop off time
  • 9:00 – Convocation (Parents of Class of 2027 are invited to join us.)
  • 3:00 pm pick up
  • No Bradford Plus

WED AUG 12 : K – 4th Grade FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

  • Wear dress uniform
  • 7:40 earliest drop off time 
  • NOON DISMISSAL for all K – 4th students
  • No Bradford Plus

THURS AUG 13:  

  • First day of Bradford Plus
  • Transitional Kindergarten Archer Night
  • 6:00 pm
  • Lower School Campus, 939 S. Third St.

TUES AUG 18:  Transitional Kindergarten FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL 

  • 7:40 earliest drop off time
  • First day of Moms’ Helper

WED AUG 19:  7:50AM – Upper School Scarf Ceremony: New students will be inducted into their Bradford House and presented with the house scarf.  Parents of new students are welcome to join us!

FRI AUG 21:  

  • 8:00AM – Lower School Scarf Ceremony:  New students in Kindergarten – 4th grade  will be inducted into their Bradford House and presented with the house scarf.  Parents of new students are welcome to join us!
  • 6:00 – 8:00PM – StuCo (Student Council) is hosting a “Back-to-school” bonfire for 5th – 12th grade students at the lower school campus (939 S. 3rd St.).
