  • It was an absolute pleasure to teach k-3rd grade students in music this year. They worked so hard and learned so much about the different elements of music. It was so exciting to hear the growth in their ability to match pitches and blend their voices while singing. I love how these young students enjoy singing all of the hymns that we learned because they love praising God.

Kindergarten (Mrs. Rivera and Miss Burdeshaw)

This Week:
  • Our kindergarten scholars have had an awesome last week of school! We spent time reading an “I Can Read” book and worked on corresponding worksheets. We also had our very much anticipated Verse Bee, where the students enjoyed reciting the bible verses they had learned all year. On Friday, we had our last day of school, which was Field Day! We started the day off with our kindergarten graduation, where the students received their certificates of achievement. Then we spent the rest of the day playing outdoor games and counting down to summer. We hope that you all have a restful break and please don’t forget to participate in our summer reading contest.
Upcoming:
  • It’s summer time!

1st Grade (Mrs. Morgan & Mrs. Smith)

This Week:
  • We have had a great last week of school! We made ice cream in a bag (more like milk shakes). We watched end of the year class movies and  finished up letters to the 2nd grade teachers.  In art we drew a humming bird and colored the bird using gradation and overlapping. Of course, the Bible Verse Bee was a great experience for the students. They had the opportunity to recite verses that they have been working on all year. It is such a blessing to know that they have God’s word written on their hearts. Friday was our annual last day of school field day. Thankfully it was much cooler than last year. The kids had a great time playing games and counting down to summer.  It was an honor and privilege to teach your children this year. Have an amazing summer!
Upcoming:
  • Have a great summer!

2nd Grade (Mrs. Hedgecock & Mrs. Eng)

This Week:
  • This last week of school has been full of wonderful memories as we look back at all we have learned and as the students express their friendship to their classmates.  It truly has been a wonderful journey this year in second grade.  The students have not only learned much but they have matured and grown in wisdom.  The Verse Bee was a highlight and it was amazing to see how well the students remembered their verses.  Several students said it was their favorite activity of the year.  We hope you will take time to look over all the materials the students brought home this week.  Their notebooks are full of assignments from the year.  Their spelling and science journals represent the year’s worth of work.  Their art portfolios contain many beautiful pieces of art that they have diligently worked to create.  It has been a wonderful year and we are delighted God allowed us to play a part in your child’s life.
Upcoming:
  • Have a great summer!  Be sure to participate in the Summer Reading Program

3rd Grade (Mrs. McDorman and Mrs. Meredith)

This Week
  • We had a wonderful week together in 3rd grade! Students competed in the annual Bible bee, cleaned out their folders and desks, packed up the classroom, wrote and performed Latish plays, and acted as emperors and tried to stop the fall of Rome. We soaked up every last minute. They enjoyed a jam packed field day and are ready to start an adventurous summer! Thank you for an amazing year, parents! We will miss each one of your students, but look forward to seeing all they accomplish!
Upcoming:
  • Summer Break!

4th Grade (Mrs. Burtram and Miss Abrahamsen)

This Week
  • It is hard to believe this is our last newsletter of the year.  We have enjoyed every minute teaching together and sharing the love and joy of learning with your precious children.  We hope they have taken great delight in seeing the world the Lord has created, and His majesty in all content areas and how He has a never ending, never changing deep love for us.  We finished the week with reflection about all we have learned and our excitement of looking forward to a new season at the upper campus.  We enjoyed the Bible Bee, Art in Nature and sharing Field Day with our Bradford friends.  We pray all of you have a fabulous summer.  May the Lord bless you and keep you and may His face shine upon you.  With much love, Mrs. Burtram and Miss A.
Upcoming:
  • Summer Break!

  • Music is the universal language of mankind. ~ Longfellow  What a privilege to experience the joy of music with your young men and women this year!  Thank you for the opportunity.  It is my prayer that these formative years will develop a lifelong love for one of the greatest gifts from our Creator!

Miss Stevenson

5th-8th Girls’ PE
  • We had a great year in middle school girls’ PE! I very much enjoyed working with your daughter(s) and seeing how much they grew in skill and endurance. While most students do not enjoy running a mile every week, it was exciting to see a marked improvement in both endurance and in attitude toward running. The girls also did a great job of listening to instructions and improving their skill in the various sports that we learned.

5th Grade (Mrs. Owens)

This Week
  •  I cannot believe we are already at the end of the year!  The students have persevered through the last quarter and finished well.  My ask of the students during the last few weeks of school was that they didn’t stop working hard and they continued to push themselves.  I am so proud of each and every one of them!  My prayer for their summer is that they continue to draw near to God and His Word knowing that this is their strong foundation that cannot be shaken.  I pray that they enjoy rest and fellowship with some of their friends and family.  I will continue to pray for them as they continue to move forward in their academic career.  It has been an absolute joy to be their teacher for the year.

Mrs. Palmer

5th Art
  • I have so enjoyed teaching these fifth grade students this year! The art they created was beautiful and deserves to be displayed!  Praying all have a wonderful summer of resting in Him.
Mrs. Kromhout
5th Latin
  • We had so much fun the last week doing a competition we have been preparing for over the last few weeks! The students did a fantastic job! It has been a lot of fun to get to know them and teach them this year!

6th Grade (Miss Stevenson)

Sixth grade parents, thank you for allowing me to work with your students this year. This class was truly a joy to work with. They listened well, participated wholeheartedly, and cheerfully (for the most part), quickly, and thoroughly completed everything that I asked of them. I appreciate the respect they showed towards me and the sincere love that they seem to have for each other. They most definitely deserve the upcoming break, and I hope that you all have a safe and restful summer as they prepare to enter the seventh grade.

Mr. Hunter

6th Latin
  • The students did an excellent job with their formal introduction to reading Latin. They have grown in their knowledge of Latin literature and history, and I hope they continue to do so. Many thanks for the opportunity to teach your students this year!

Mrs. Frueh

6th Math
  • We wrapped up our last few lessons by attempting some challenging questions from each of the remaining lessons.  We also used logic to understand why division by zero is undefined.
  • I challenged the students to find ways to use math each day this summer: Board games are a great way to practice mental math skills. Cooking and baking are great ways to practice fractions and unit conversion. There are some great free internet resources out there to practice math including Khan Academy and Prodigy. Kumon and Spectrum also make great summer review workbooks to prepare for pre-algebra.

Mrs. Palmer

6th Art
  • I have so enjoyed teaching these sixth grade students this year! The art they created was beautiful and deserves to be displayed!  Praying all have a wonderful summer of resting in Him.

Mrs. Crotts

7th Grammar and Writing
  • Improvement! The 7th Graders’ writing skills have improved over the course of this year!  I challenge them to write this summer–pick 10 days and pick 10 topics and write for 10 minutes each time.  Also, added to the challenge is to “collect” great phrases and vocabulary that they hear and tuck it away in their red notebooks to enhance their future writing.
7th Omnibus
  • Literature: We discussed summer reading and began one of the books–The Eagle of the Ninth—to pique their interest. This has been a very exciting bunch to teach; it has been a privilege!
  • History/Bible: We concluded with reading and discussing an article of encouragement about the blessings God has given us through His covenants.

Mrs. Frueh

7th Science
  • We wrapped up the year with a mini-unit on seasons and time zones and a fun session of “Ask Anything” with Mrs. Frueh. It has been fun to explore God’s fascinating creation with these students this year.
7th Pre-Algebra
  • We wrapped up the year by completing our final test and creating math resource notebooks with some of the concepts that we learned. The students are now ready to move on to Algebra 1, their first high school math class. I highly recommend that students keep their algebra skills sharp over the summer so they’re ready to hit the ground running in the fall. Two great options for summer review are: (1) Either the Pre-algebra or Algebra 1 course on Khan Academy (a free online course provider) or (2) Kumon review workbooks targeted at skills that your student needs to review.

Mrs. Palmer

7th Art
  • I have so enjoyed teaching these seventh grade students this year! The art they created was beautiful and deserves to be displayed!  Praying all have a wonderful summer of resting in Him.

Mr. Hunter

7th Latin
  • The students have developed a greater understanding of Latin literature and history throughout the year, and hopefully a few have been inspired to pursue further studies in this or adjacent  areas of knowledge. I’m thankful for the opportunity to have taught them.

Mrs. Kromhout

8th Omnibus
  • History: Students had a final discussion covering all the topics we learned since the beginning of the year!! They did a great job pulling together the people, events, and topics we have covered.
  • Literature: We came to the end of Macbeth this week, and wrapped up by each of the students participating in a short scene of their choice! They did a great job acting out various scenes from the play and bringing the play to life in our classroom!
  • Composition: No composition this week due to the short week, but I hope you all take a moment to look at your student’s research papers! They did a phenomenal job on these, and worked really hard on their research and their writing.

Mr. Hunter

8th Latin
  • My primary goal this year was to aid the students in developing a better knowledge of Latin authors and history. I hope that we have achieved this goal and that perhaps a few of the students will continue to study the Latin texts that are indescribably important for Western culture.

Mrs. Frueh

8th Science
  • We had fun this week wrapping up our compound chemistry unit by performing several different reactions. The students were able to identify the reactions as synthesis, decomposition, or replacement, but also to write and balance their chemical equations.
8th Algebra I
  • We wrapped up the year by completing our final test.. The students are now ready to move on to Geometry, their second high school math class. I highly recommend that students keep their algebra skills sharp over the summer so they’re ready to hit the ground running in the fall. Two great options for summer review are: (1) Either the  Algebra 1 or Geometry course on Khan Academy (a free online course provider) or (2) Kumon review workbooks targeted at skills that your student needs to review.

Mrs. Palmer

8th Art
  • I will miss these eighth grade art students next year but I am thankful I will get to teach them in Spanish.  The artwork they created this past year was beautiful and should proudly be displayed!

Mr. Crotts

8th Logic
  • I look forward to seeing our rising 9th graders in Intermediate Logic in the upcoming school year!

    • Clear list of college priorities
    • Finalized college list where they will apply (3-8 schools with a variety of difficulty)
    • SAT/ACT scores that match colleges of choice – sign up now if you need to take it again!
      • The next SAT is at the end of August, and the next ACT is in July
    • A plan for major/minors
    • A list of dates when college applications are due and when scholarships are due at colleges of choice
  • Let me know if you have any questions or would like to meet next week – I still have a lot of available meeting times!

  • I am so thankful for the hard work these students put into learning Spanish this past year.  I look forward to seeing their language knowledge and acquisition grow in the coming years.  Praying all rest in Him this summer!

Coach Johnston

9th History
  • This class was a joy to teach all year! I appreciate your enthusiasm, curiosity and how you relate to one another! We concluded our course with a 9th vs 12th Modern History Fishbowl competition that the seniors won, but the freshman applied some pressure to them and forced the seniors to earn a win in a competitive, and very fun game. I pray that you will all enjoy your summer! I look forward to teaching you more frequently as sophomores next year!

Mrs. Frueh

9th Geometry
  • We wrapped up our final unit of the year with a test on Circles. The students were able to use their many chord, tangent, and secant theorems to solve for arcs, angles, and lengths within systems built off of circles. It has been a privilege to teach this hard-working, dedicated group of students. They should be proud of the time and effort they put into a job well done. Enjoy your summer!

Mr. Crotts

9th Logic
  • Our small class in our tiny classroom navigated the final course of logic – go forth and reason well!

Mrs. Crotts

  • We learned about Ben Carson, a troubled teen whose mother learned to read as an adult and then required her sons to read a book or more a week…he became a neurosurgeon…

Mrs. Crotts

9th Literature
  • Students learned about the summer reading requirements.  They were also challenged to write for at least 10 minutes for at least 10 days this summer and collect fabulous phrases and vocabulary that they hear throughout the summer.  This has been a wonderful group to teach!!

Dr. Byrd

9th and 10th Bible
  • By God’s grace we have finished the Old Testament and New Testament. May the Word of God be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path. May the Lord bless you and keep you this summer. Read, memorize, meditate, journal about, and prayer over the Scriptures.

Dr. James

10th Chemistry
  • Congratulations to the students for completing a year of chemistry.  May the facts they learned and the study habits they honed be a benefit to them in the future, and may the knowledge they gained fuel their praise to the Great Chemist, who brought all things into being and upholds them by the word of His power.  Amen.

Mrs. Palmer

10th Spanish

Miss Oldham

10th Rhetoric I
  •  We had our final Teeny Tiny Thesis presentation.

Coach Johnston

10th History/PE
  • It has been a joy to spend so much of this year with this class! You are smart, athletic, sometimes funny, and filled with potential as you plan and prepare for the future! I hope you all enjoy a wonderful summer. Next year, I will miss seeing you as frequently, given my less frequent interactions with juniors, but I will see you all regularly in the hall, at practices, games and other events.

Mrs. Byrd

11th Precalculus
  • We ended our mini unit on Conic Sections.  Students should now be able to distinguish between the different types of equations and be able to put equations into graphing form as well as identify basic properties of each type.
11th Physics
  • We loaned the time from our one remaining physics class to the precalculus class in order to finish the Conic Sections unit.

Miss Oldham

11th Literature
  • Students discussed summer reading and their senior theses for next year.

Mr. Hunter

11th NT Greek
  • The students did an excellent job of learning NT Greek, as well some of the history of Greek literature generally. They have now reached the point that they can translate 1 John and many other passages of the NT with the aid of a lexicon. I hope that they will maintain and develop their knowledge of Greek, even if that means reading one verse in Greek per day.

Mrs. Palmer

11th-12th Elective: Color Theory/Design
  • It has been a true joy to teach these students in this class.  We all learned alongside each other and prayerfully they were able to glean some further knowledge of design concepts and color theory.  I am looking forward to hearing how the Lord uses these students in the days ahead!

Dr. Smith

11th-12th Apologetics & Philosophy
  • What a great year! It was filled with great discussions on the things that matter the most. Thank you for entrusting your sons and daughters to us. What a great privilege it has been to work with them! May the Lord bless them and you over the summer! I look forward to seeing how the Lord works among our seniors as they go on to the next phase of their lives, and look forward to one final great year with the juniors next year!

Coach Johnston

12th History
  • It was a joy to spend this past year teaching you Modern History and discussing its lessons and applications on life. You are all excellent young men and women! As you step out into new levels of independence, my prayer is that you will prioritize the daily and regular graces of walking with God (Bible reading, prayer, christian fellowship, church membership and discipleship), and that from that fullness of grace your life will be marked by a consistent seeking to strengthen and encourage fellow believers, applying the gospel to yourself and others, and drawing unbelievers to Jesus Christ. He is worthy! Don’t hurry back but don’t be a stranger to Bradford now that you are moving on to the next phase in life and don’t hesitate to ask for help, advice or prayer, etc if you ever want it. We are for you for life! God bless! Philippians 4:4-7

Miss Oldham

12th Literature
  • Seniors reminisced about their time at Bradford and looked forward to what they have in the future.

Mrs. Byrd

12th Calculus
  • Our class did not meet this week.  Congratulations to our seniors!

Mrs. James

12th Anatomy
  • It was a privilege for me to be able to teach these students, if only for the last quarter.  May the Lord guide them and uphold them for this next stage of their lives.
