  • Verse Bee results:  1st – Plymouth, 2nd – Scrooby,  3rd – Austerfield, 4th  – Leiden

UPPER SCHOOL IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • FROM DR. SMITH: Like many endings, the end of our school year is also a transition, a transition into summer. It will mean many different things for us all. But hopefully it will mean one thing for us all–that we go relying upon the Lord Jesus to govern and guide us. For me, it means an end to my time at Bradford–a time for which I am immensely grateful. My prayers will be with you all, and I look forward to hearing of how the Lord continues to bless all of you.

FROM THE TEACHER’S DESK

GRAMMAR SCHOOL

Lower School Art (Mrs. Knight)

3rd
  • Oh, what a delight it was to me to see the children’s beautiful self portraits! I know you all loved them as well. Despite being a bit more hurried to finish than I would prefer, they turned out wonderful. We were able to talk about the “Great Artist” Who does all things well and Who has fearfully and wonderfully made us for Himself. It has been a joy to teach your children this year. I hope you all have a wonderful summer.
4th
  • It has been a delight to teach art to your children this year. They have been eager learners. I am already looking forward to next year. Have a wonderful summer, spending time together and enjoying the different routine summer affords.

Lower School P.E.  (Mrs. Bennington)

K-4th
  • Students did a great job in PE this year. All students grew in skill and teamwork. I hope everyone has a restful, relaxing, and fun summer.

Lower School Music (Mrs. Bennington)

K-4th
  • Students did a great job in music this year. All students grew in their ability to match pitches and sing with confidence. Students also grew in their ability to work as a team to create beautiful music. I hope everyone has a restful, relaxing, and fun summer.

Kindergarten (Mrs. Rivera and Miss Burdeshaw)

This Week: Our kindergarten scholars have officially completed all the requirements to go into first grade! We are very thankful to have taught these students this year. This week was eventful! The students loved participating in the Bible Bee, where they recited bible verses from first quarter to fourth quarter.  We also spent time cleaning up our classrooms in preparation for next year. The last day of school was exciting; where we played games outside together, announced who won the House Cup, and counted down to summer. Praise God in his faithfulness to bring us to the end of a wonderful year. We hope you all have a restful summer break!
Memory Work: Read, read, read!

1st Grade (Mrs. Cantaffa & Mrs. Smith)

This Week:
  • It was a full last week of school, even though it was only 3 and ½ days! We “worked out bodies and our brains” with some fun math exercise videos, read a lot, wrote letters to 2nd grade teachers, practiced Bible verses, and started the Summer Fun packets on Tuesday. Wednesday was the Bible Bee where the students had the opportunity to recite the word of God from a microphone in front of a crowd. What great practice for proclaiming His Word in life!We also watched the 4th graders catapult competition. On Thursday, we released our butterflies into the flower garden and then checked out the seedlings in our own garden. Next fall, we will see what God allowed to grow. We watched the 3rd grade performance of The Iliad and cleaned the desks, pencil boxes, and walls. Cleaning is great fun for 1st graders! Friday was another fun field day and senior run. It is always bitter sweet. Your kids have grown physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially this year.  It has been an honor and a privilege to teach your children! We wish you a blessed, restful, fun summer full of great memory making adventures!
Memory Work:
  • Read, practice math, write sentences, go on hikes, do arts and crafts, keep their minds active! Allow time for them to be bored. Boredom is where creativity begins. UNPLUG!

2nd Grade (Miss Verroi & Mrs. Eng)

This Week:

This last week of school has been full of wonderful memories as we look back at all we have learned and as the students express their friendship to their classmates.  It truly has been a wonderful journey this year in second grade.  The students have not only learned much but they have matured and grown in wisdom.  The Verse Bee was a highlight and it was amazing to see how well the students remembered their verses. We hope you will take time to look over all the materials the students brought home this week. It has been a wonderful year and we are delighted God allowed us to play a part in your child’s life.  Have a wonderful summer!

3rd Grade (Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Meredith)

This Week

We had a wonderful final week together in 3rd grade! Students competed in the annual Bible bee, cleaned out their folders and desks, packed up the classroom, performed in a play about The Iliad, and acted as emperors and tried to stop the fall of Rome. We soaked up every last minute. They enjoyed a jam packed field day and are ready to start an adventurous summer! Thank you for an amazing year, parents! We will miss each one of your students, but look forward to seeing all they accomplish!

4th Grade (Mrs. Graham and Mrs. Rankin)

This Week

Our final week of fourth grade was filled with meaningful moments, fun, and reflection. Students tested their medieval machines, with the trebuchet proving to be the winning design. We also spent time reviewing our memory verses and participating in the Bible Bee, continuing the important work of writing God’s Word on our hearts. As good stewards of what God has given us, students cleaned their desks and classroom, preparing the space for next year’s fourth graders. We ended the week with the grand finale of Field Day—a fun and energetic celebration of teamwork and joy.

As we close this chapter, we are grateful for the opportunity to have taught your children this year. It has been a joy to watch them grow in knowledge, character, and confidence. May you all enjoy a restful and blessed summer.

Soli Deo Gloria — To God alone be the glory.

Mrs. Johnston

5th – 8th Choirs
  • It has been a wonderful year full of hard work and rewards. Keep up the singing over the summer, singing your favorite tunes and challenging yourself to learn new songs. See you in the fall!

5th Grade (Mrs. LaTour and Miss Johnston)

This Week
  • It has been a wonderful final week of the school year! We enjoyed watching a movie adaptation of Treasure Island, the book we recently finished together. On Wednesday, we held a 5th and 6th grade Bible Bee, and it was exciting to challenge the students’ memories on all of the verses they have studied and learned throughout the year. The students have truly finished strong, and we are so proud of all they have accomplished academically and personally this year. It has been a joy to watch them grow, learn, and encourage one another each day. We wish them all the best as they move on to 6th grade, and we hope your family has a wonderful, restful summer!

Mrs. Knight

5th Art
  • It has been a joy to teach fifth grade art this year, namely because of the students’ eagerness to learn and create. The amount of learning that has taken place was evident in our final quiz as well as our last trivia game of the year. I hope you all have a wonderful summer, enjoying reading, sketching, and being out in God’s beautiful world together. Always remember the most important thing we learned in art this year – God Himself is THE GREAT ARTIST (who created all things out of nothing, mind you) and it is He that made us for Himself. Seek Him!

6th Grade (Mrs. McDorman and Miss Pugsley)

  • What a wonderful end to 6th grade! Students presented their geography projects, shared food from the countries they studied, participated in the first Middle School Bible Bee, finished Around the World in Eighty Days, and enjoyed a festive close to the school year with games and yearbook signing. We have officially made the final countdown, and now the work of summer begins.
  • Continue keeping the knowledge and truths cultivated this year at the forefront of your students’ minds and hearts. I encourage students to work through a bridge book to keep math concepts and grammar skills fresh, complete their summer reading assignments, and review their Latin regularly. Small, consistent practice over the summer makes a tremendous difference.
  • Thank you for a wonderful year. It has been a joy for us  to teach and watch these students grow. We look forward to seeing everyone again soon!

Mrs. Crotts

6th Math
  • It was a privilege to teach your children and see them grow not only in math skills but maturity!  Numbers 6:24-26, “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”

Mrs. Wright

6th Latin
  • 6th Grade Latin students have done an excellent job this year and have translated 9 whole chapters of Latin!  This is something to be proud of!  As we look to the summer it is a great time to give our Latin brains a rest and our bodies lots of movement!  I look forward to picking up where we left off next year and continuing in this Latin adventure together!

Mrs. Palmer

6th Art
  • Students received all of their work this week. Be sure to ask your students to show you their hard work over the course of this year in art class!

Mrs. Frueh

7th Science
  •  We wrapped up our year with a look ahead at some of the major physics and chemistry concepts that we’ll be studying next year in 8th grade. What a blessing it has been to study the beauty of God’s creation through geology and astronomy this year!
7th Pre-Algebra
  • How many unique arrangements can you come up with for six different items? Answering this question requires the use of mathematical permutations. This was our topic of study for this week. Ask your student how you could determine the answer. Mathematical permutations are an important part of understanding Dorothy Sayers’ murder mystery, The Nine Tailors, one of the summer reading books for the rising 8th graders. They have already received their copies of this excellent novel. Check in with your student over the summer and see if they can explain how permutations contribute to finding out “whodunit?”.

Mrs. Palmer

7th Art
  • Students received all of their work this week. Be sure to ask your students to show you their hard work over the course of this year in art class!

Mrs. Wright

7th Latin
  •  7th Grade Latin students have done an excellent job this year and have translated 9 whole chapters of Latin!  This is something to be proud of!  As we look to the summer it is a great time to give our Latin brains a rest and our bodies lots of movement!  I look forward to picking up where we left off next year and continuing in this Latin adventure together!
7th Logic
  •  Watch out, world!  The 7th grade Logic students finished studying all 28 informal logical fallacies in the Art of Argument and they are already seeing the fallacies used around them on tv, YouTube, billboards, etc everyday!  Well done, students!

Dr. Wright

  •  8th graders worked hard all year.  I look forward to seeing them next year in Rhetoric.  Have a great summer!

Mrs. Wright

8th Latin
  • It is with gratitude and also some sadness that we wrap up 8th grade Latin.  This is the end of their official Latin journey here at Bradford.  Through the months together I have seen the students be challenged, rise to those challenges, and seriously grow!  They have each done well.

Ms. Oldham

Mrs. Frueh

9th Biology
  • It was an exciting week in biology as we put many years of learning to the test with a large-scale dissection of fetal pig specimens. The students were able to identify the major structures of the digestive, circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, reproductive, and musculoskeletal systems. Many students were surprised to learn that dissection was less daunting than they expected (and a few learned that a future in medicine may not be for them). Everybody did a great job and handled the dissection process with maturity and care.

Mrs. Frueh

9th Geometry
  • It was an exciting final week of geometry as we completed our balsa wood bridge projects! After an intense design-and-build process, the students finally had the chance to test the strength of their truss designs. This project was a great way to tie together all of the concepts learned this year, especially about the incorporation of triangles in architectural design.

Mrs. Crotts

You all have learned to work very well together, and I am so excited to see what next year holds! Thank you for giving your time and effort to make Bradford Chorale what it was this year. Enjoy your summer break!

Dr. Smith

You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.” Staying “in the door” is not an option. So as you go, remember: God gives grace to the humble, He gives strength to the weary, His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Shoot straight and go far! Our prayers will continue to go with you!

Ms. Oldham
