Kindergarten (Mrs. Rivera & Mrs. McDorman)

This Week
  • Kindergarten’s final week has brought with it a sense of gratitude and joy as we reflect on God’s grace and mercy to us this year. We have memorized all the addition and most of the subtraction math facts, memorized the history timeline, studied over 30 paintings and their artists, learned 50+ phonograms, sung songs about body systems, recited over 32 Bible verses, and discussed and memorized the first 12 catechisms. We’ve mixed colors, molded clay, weaved pot holders, and learned several basics of drawing, such as the vanishing point, perspective, and the horizon line. We drew self portraits and symmetrical butterflies. We’ve studied God’s amazing creation all around us.  Students can read and write in cursive, spell over 70 words, and read books on topics like Charlemenge, the Civil War, and the Roman Empire. Your students have been a joy to teach! We are sending them off and hope they continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior! Remember to throw a book in your suitcase as you travel the world. Have a wonderful summer!
Memory Work:
  • Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. (Colossians 3:16) We are indeed very thankful for the many verses our young scholars have memorized this year. May they take root in their hearts and may they seek to live out the truths found in them.

1st Grade (Mrs. Morgan & Mr. Law)

This Week
  •  We have completed our final week of first grade! Our students have learned to do hard things and how to do hard things well. This week we completed a letter for our new second grade teachers telling them about ourselves and our expectations for the upcoming year. We competed in our very first Bible Bee and we were able to read our favorite readers to the 3rd  and 4th grade classes. It has been a joy to watch the students grow and achieve this year. We are so thankful for God’s blessings over us this year.

2nd Grade (Mrs. Jones & Mrs. Batten)

  • I am incredibly thankful that each one of the students worked hard to learn piano this year. Although for most students this was a new experience, each one of them persevered and improved wonderfully! The informal ensemble performance this week was a great success! I am greatly looking forward to next year, when our voices will (hopefully) no longer be silent, and we will also be able to add some woodwinds and other instruments to our piano lab.
Music History Elective (Baroque to Modern)
  • We had an incredibly blessed year in this class. We have covered an immense amount of music, musicians, and composers. Above all, though, students have grown in their love, understanding, appreciation, and passion for great music, coupled with a marked development of musical language and analysis. I have been very privileged to teach this group of students and am greatly looking forward to offering this class once again next year.
